The Roaring Twenties Featured in New Two Year Exhibit

McHenry County’s largest local history museum will take a very personal look at various decades in history from a local point of view in our new exhibit series called "Arrival." Area history through the lives of individuals who moved into this county during particular decades will be illustrated. The growth of Fox River Grove will be highlighted for the 1920’s. Rose Sedivec Kadlec and James Kolar are featured families who arrived at that time. Using many of their memories, the large exhibit describes the recreational use of the Fox River, the growth of towns, the Bohemian or Czech influence in Fox River Grove along with all the issues created by National Prohibition, automobiles, more leisure time and a changing morality. From gangsters to golf come and be entertained while learning more about McHenry County in the 1920’s. For information about the McHenry County Historical Society, the museum, membership, local history, and volunteer opportunities, call the Society Museum at 815-923-2267 or checkout the web site: www.mchsonline.org and download a free pass.
