The McHenry County Historical Society and Museum

has three services available to area businesses.

First, the Society has two traveling photo exhibit displays that are lightweight and consist of three free standing double sided panels that stand about seven feet tall. The panels measure 3 x 4 feet. The entire exhibit takes up about nine square feet. Local history pictures are featured and exhibits change frequently. A traveling exhibit may be borrowed for up to a month at a time and is perfect for lobbies and public waiting areas. The Society delivers and picks up the exhibit. There is no charge for the use of these displays.

Second, there is an opportunity to share county-wide advertising with the Society through sponsorship of the historical society’s award winning local mobile history museum called “The James.” “The James” is a professionally revamped school bus complete with changing exhibits and its own generating system, and easy entry and exit. It will appear at business events like grand openings and/or anniversary celebrations or at business expos. For a donation of $200.00 sponsorship provides a highly visible and unique way of letting your potential customers see the community service side of your business.

Third, the historical society provides an opportunity for businesses to become members of the McHenry County Historical Society and museum through a yearly tax exempt membership of $100.00. Such a membership comes with four free family passes; use of the museum’s local history library which contains many old time area photos that are often used for interior design purposes.

The McHenry County Historical Society and museum is a not-for-profit 501C-3 corporation working to improve this quality of life for McHenry County residents. Good places to live are also good places to do business.
