Heritage Fair, July 14
28th Annual Heritage Fair, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. “Hip for History”
Annual summer celebration boasts another first – an antique car show sponsored by First Merit Bank of Union – from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Trophies and a DJ will be spinning "oldies." For information call TJ's Klassics, 847-515-8110. The popular barbershop quartet, The Clef Hangers, will be here between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. At noon and 3 p.m. AWS certified quilt appraiser, artist, and teacher Sandy Schweitzer of Crystal Lake will demonstrate a quilt bed turning featuring Civil War quilts. Pie baking contests and cake walks take place in the morning. Baked goods, book, antique clothing, garden plants and white elephant sales are on-going throughout the day. At 1 p.m. an antiques auction takes place out on the museum lawn with auctioneer Russ Davis, while inside one can enjoy the two-year major exhibit “Return to Woodstock – All-American City” and be entertained by Freddy Fredericks and other magicians throughout the day, with special performances at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the auditorium stage. ’60s games – hula hoop and Frisbee contests – ongoing between 1 and 3 p.m. “The James” mobile museum will be open and food is available. Admission is free.
Come and spend the day. Village of Union residents also will be hosting garage sales throughout town.
