Heritage Quilters, Wednesday Mornings
Join the Heritage Quilters each Wednesday morning throughout the year at the Society’s museum at 6422 Main Street in Union. Quilters of varying levels of experience meet from 9:30 a.m. to about noon to work on a raffle quilt that benefits the not-for-profit Historical Society. For more information phone (815) 923-2267
Museum Grand Opening – May 5
1 p.m. – McHenry County Historical Society Museum opens for the season, marking its 50th year. Features roundtable discussion about life in Woodstock during the 1960s as part of “Return to Woodstock, An All-American City” exhibit. Gathering for members-only 50th anniverary photo at 12:15 p.m. prior to the opening. Information to follow.

You pay just $28, a savings of more than $35 off of ticket price at the main gate, and the Society receives $5 for every ticket sold.
Civil War-Era Baseball Game - June 22
2 p.m. – Old Fashioned baseball game at Siems Memorial Park off Highbridge Road in Union. Civil War-era baseball game pits the The McHenry County “Independants” (an actual team of that era) against a team from Lake County in what could become an annual tradition. Grayslake Heritage Center Executive Director Dave Oberg will umpire and emcee, explaining the rules and teaching the audience to cheer and jeer in proper 19th-century fashion. Features display of Franklin Mint baseball parks from noon to 2 p.m. in the West Harmony School, located on the museum grounds; and from 1 to 4 p.m. June 23.
