The cars were illuminated with acetylene gas and heated by hot water radiation. An air suction system provided ventilation. Through large and majestic, the gasoline motor cars proved to be mechanically unreliable and insufficient horsepower made them unworkable in and around rural Marengo.The railroad line never reached Woodstock. Increase popularity of the automobile proved to be the undoing of the railroad which ceased operation in 1918.
